2009 FBI Youth Academy at Miami Dade College North Campus
The FBI-Miami Division and the FBI Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association-South Florida (Miami) hosted the 2009 FBI Youth Academy at Miami Dade College. The 4th Annual Youth Academy awarded 36 South Florida high school students, from schools located throughout South Florida with a full scholarship to participate in an once-in-a-lifetime education program to learn about specific careers within the FBI and other federal and local law enforcement agencies. The program consisted of classroom, laboratory, outdoor and field trip activities for five days. The Academy also empowered students with invaluable information and resources on pursuing their post-secondary education goals, including opportunities at the Miami Dade School of Criminal Justice.
The one-week program culminated with a graduation ceremony, and the awarding of the prestigious FBI Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association “Rising Star Award” to the most promising student in the program. Recipient, Gregory George, Senior at Turner Technical High School, received a framed certificate and lap top computer to aid in his academic studies.
